About pretoria

pretoria

South Africa is one of the most diverse and interesting countries in the world. Tourists flock to South Africa for its natural beauty, wildlife and sunshine. South Africa's immensely varied terrain supports a rich diversity of animals, birds, and plant-life and offers an incomparable range of experiences. South Africa is a heady mix of third and first world cultures - along with the best and least crowded beaches in the world. Throw in wildlife parks such as the Kruger National Park (19485 square kilometres), Eight World Heritage Sites, Table Mountain and the most exquisite coastline in Cape Town, South Africa is a great destination for tourism.

As the political capital of South Africa, Pretoria lies about 50km north of Johannesburg, which has direct flights to most of the countries in the world. Although largely a government-based city, it is also a place of culture, with theatres, museums and monuments. As the academic, scientific and technological capital of South Africa, the city has the most highly developed technology and research sector in Africa. Jacarandas (a purple flower) throw a blanket of mauve over this relaxed city in October. Pretoria boasts superb shopping centres, museums, art galleries and restaurants. There is also an abundance of open spaces – Pretoria has more than 100 parks, including bird sanctuaries and nature reserves. The Pretoria National Botanical Gardens offer more than 5,000 indigenous plant species. See www.tourism.gov.za for further details about South Africa.
